On the Scene: 2019 Cervera Summit
April,05 2019Last week, Cervera Real Estate's partners, executives, and more than 150 associates met at East Hotel in Brickell City Center for the 2019 Cervera Summit. The event marked the official kick-off of the firm's 50-Year Anniversary celebrations.
To commemorate the milestone achievement, the company released a coffee table book authored by founder and chairman, Alicia Cervera Sr, who is credited by Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado for having made "the largest impact on the development of Miami since Julia Tuttle founded the city in 1895."
Titled Visionary, the book pays homage to the pioneers that shaped Miami into a global city and chronicles the Cervera family's journey ' from escaping turmoil in Cuba to redefining neighborhoods across South Florida.
Keynote: Entreprenuership in the Modern Marketplace
The day-long program featured major corporate announcements, a diverse set of workshops, and presentations by real estate industry heavyweights, including a riveting keynote by Bernardo Fort-Brescia, founding principal of international renowned Arquitectonica.

Highlights from the morning's sessions included a Townhall Q&A with Cervera partners and executives. When asked about the future of the company in the current climate of real estate mergers and acquisitions, Veronica Cervera Goeseke, CEO and Alicia Cervera Lamadrid, Managing Partner reaffirmed their commitment to preserving the Cervera legacy and integrity for the future as an indepently owned and operated brokerage.
Other exciting announcements included the introduction of the Cervera Marketing Center, a new online platform for agents featuring a variety of marketing tools, research, and digital marketing content ' including a new cloud-based social media content calendar.

Following lunch, the conversation focused on Miami, South Florida and the future. Teresa Kinney, President of Miami Association of REALTORS, gave a special presentation on Miami's latest rankings and research data.

Afterwards, top executives from leading economic, transportation, and academic institutions across South Florida gathered for a panel addressing short-term and long-term issues and opportunities facing the region.
Moderated by Matt Haggman, Former Miami Director of Knight Foundation, the panel featured Jaap Donath, Vice President of Research & Strategic Planning at Miami Beacon Council; Christina Crespi, Deputy Director at Miami Downtown Development Authority; Jenni Morejon, President of Fort Lauderdale Downtown Development Authority; Carlos Cruz-Casas, Assistant Director ' Division of Transportation & Strategic Planning at Miami Department of Transportation; and Dr. William Hardin, Associate Dean for the Chapman Graduate School of Business at Florida International University.
Other topics covered throughout the day ranged from wellness to understanding tax changes and financial planning, with presentations and workshops by guest speakers, including: yoga warrior, Peter Calin; marketing guru and business coach, Orlando Montiel; in addition to top executives from Berkowitz Pollack Brant Advisors & Accountants; and Merrill Lynch.
